Candle Care + Safety
We want Bode+Ev candles to give you love + light, filling your space with a clean unforgettable fragrance that inspires joy, creativity + relaxation. The most effective way for us to do this is to guide you with our candle care + safety tips below.
Before Burning
-
Cut the Curl! Trim the wick to ¼ inch each time you light your candle, start at the curl.
-
Avoid drafts (vents, fans, open windows) to prevent uneven burning and smoke.
-
First burn matters: Let the wax melt across the entire surface (3–6 hours) before blowing out on the first burn to prevent tunneling.
While Burning
-
Burn for 3–6 hours at a time for an even melt and strong scent throw.
-
Always keep the wax pool clean—remove wick trimmings or debris.
-
If the flame smokes, flickers, or gets too high: blow it out, let it cool, trim the wick, and re-light.
-
For best fragrance, let the candle burn in a closed room for about 30 minutes before opening doors or windows.
Safety First
-
Never leave a burning candle unattended or lit while sleeping.
-
Keep away from children, pets, drafts, and anything flammable.
-
Always place candles on a heat-resistant surface.
-
Do not move a candle while burning or when the wax is liquid.
-
When burning multiple candles, keep them at least 3 inches apart.
-
If soot appears, extinguish, let cool, wipe the glass clean, trim the wick, and re-light.
Storing Your Candle
-
Store in a cool, dark, dry place.
-
Keep away from direct sunlight and harsh indoor lighting to preserve fragrance and appearance.
